IP conflicts

Vitay collects the IP addresses of candidates and references when they submit the form. The reason why we collect this information is to check if the candidate and reference filled in their forms on the same network, and therefore could potentially be the same person.

There are valid reasons for the IP address to be the same that don't involve impersonation, however; if the candidate and reference fill in the forms in the same office, for example, then the IP address will likely match since they are using the same wi-fi.

If enabled, we will send a notification to recruiters when an IP conflict is found. Also, on the UI, we will showcase a banner on the candidate's profile:
